September 1813 and Lady Susanna Macalister has found that her family offer a barrier to potential suitors and although content in her choice of Viscount Riverton she knows this is not the 'grand passion'. Then she meets Ian Carlisle, the Earl of Westcott, a man with a dark past.
With its likable characters, a well-written easy style and a decent mystery to go with the romance it made for an enjoyable read.
